Look up a Wyoming company

Search Wyoming records

Wyoming only allows its search on its own site, so this opens in a new tab. It finds the company, not usually its EIN.

What the Wyoming business search shows

The Wyoming Secretary of State, Business Division keeps Wyoming’s record of companies formed or registered there. Use it to confirm a company’s exact legal name and whether it is active.

The Wyoming filing ID

The Wyoming Secretary of State, Business Division gives every company a filing ID when it is formed. It identifies the company in state records, and it is not the company’s EIN.

Check if a Wyoming LLC is active

Search the company in the Wyoming business search and open its record. The status tells you whether the state counts the company as active. Words such as dissolved, revoked, forfeited, inactive or delinquent mean it is not in good standing, usually because an annual filing or fee was missed, and the company may need to be reinstated before it can do business there.

To prove a company is in good standing to a bank, a lender or another state, order a Certificate of Good Standing from the Wyoming Secretary of State, Business Division. Our LLC status check reads the status from public data where a state publishes it.

Good to know in Wyoming

  • Wyoming's articles of organization do not list the members or managers, so the public record shows only the company name, the registered agent, and the organizer. The annual report is where a manager or member signs, which is why Wyoming is chosen for privacy and why the annual report is the filing that matters.
  • Wyoming has no state income tax and no general state business license, so for most LLCs the only recurring state filing is the Secretary of State annual report with its license tax, which is computed on assets located in Wyoming rather than on income. Above a certain tax amount the report must be filed on paper rather than online.
  • The Wyoming Secretary of State assigns a filing ID at registration, and the online annual report wizard runs on it rather than on the company name. Owners who do not have the ID can look it up on the first page of the annual report screens by searching the LLC name.
