Questions
What is a business entity search?
It is a search of a state's records of registered companies, such as LLCs and corporations. It usually shows the legal name, status, filing date and registered agent.
Is there one search for every state?
No. Each state keeps its own records. This tool searches several states' public data together and links to the official search for others.
Can I find who owns an LLC?
Sometimes. Many states publish managers or a registered agent, but not always the owners. Look at the state's record and any filed documents.
Does a business search show the EIN?
Usually not. Most states do not hold it. Our free EIN lookup covers the public records where EINs do appear.
More company checks
See if a company is active, check whether a name is free, or look up an EIN. Acompany registration number is the state’s ID for a company.
