Look up a Arkansas company

Search Arkansas records

Arkansas only allows its search on its own site, so this opens in a new tab. It finds the company, not usually its EIN.

What the Arkansas business search shows

The Arkansas Secretary of State keeps Arkansas’s record of companies formed or registered there. Use it to confirm a company’s exact legal name and whether it is active.

The Arkansas filing number

The Arkansas Secretary of State gives every company a filing number when it is formed. It identifies the company in state records, and it is not the company’s EIN.

Check if an Arkansas LLC is active

Search the company in the Arkansas business search and open its record. The status tells you whether the state counts the company as active. Words such as dissolved, revoked, forfeited, inactive or delinquent mean it is not in good standing, usually because an annual filing or fee was missed, and the company may need to be reinstated before it can do business there.

To prove a company is in good standing to a bank, a lender or another state, order a Certificate of Good Standing from the Arkansas Secretary of State. Our LLC status check reads the status from public data where a state publishes it.

Good to know in Arkansas

  • Arkansas LLCs do not file a separate annual report. The annual franchise tax report, filed with and paid to the Secretary of State rather than the tax department, serves as the annual report, and it is due on or before May 1 with no extensions; Arkansas eliminated franchise tax extensions by statute in 1991.
  • The Secretary of State's online franchise tax system asks for two things: the LLC's filing number and the federal tax ID on file with the Secretary of State. A company in its first year to file, or with no EIN on record yet, enters nine zeros instead, and the paper report carries its own Federal Tax ID line for the EIN.
  • Arkansas franchise tax keeps accruing even after the state revokes an LLC for not paying, and it continues until the company is formally dissolved, withdrawn or merged. Under Arkansas law the Secretary of State also refuses other business filings from an entity that has not paid, so an LLC that is simply abandoned keeps running up a balance.

Questions

How do I search for a business in Arkansas?
