Look up a Arizona company

Search Arizona records

Arizona only allows its search on its own site, so this opens in a new tab. It finds the company, not usually its EIN.

What the Arizona business search shows

The Arizona Business Center business search finds a company by business name, business ID, statutory agent or principal name. It finds a company by business name, business ID, statutory agent or principal name. Use it to confirm a company exists and is active, not to get its federal number.

The Arizona ACC file number

The Arizona Corporation Commission gives every company an ACC file number when it is formed. It identifies the company in state records, and it is not the company’s EIN.

Check if an Arizona LLC is active

Search the company in the Arizona business search and open its record. The status tells you whether the state counts the company as active. Words such as dissolved, revoked, forfeited, inactive or delinquent mean it is not in good standing, usually because an annual filing or fee was missed, and the company may need to be reinstated before it can do business there.

To prove a company is in good standing to a bank, a lender or another state, order a Certificate of Good Standing from the Arizona Corporation Commission. Our LLC status check reads the status from public data where a state publishes it.

Good to know in Arizona

  • Arizona LLCs file no annual report with the Corporation Commission at all. Corporations do, which is why so much advice found online is wrong for an LLC; the only recurring state-level obligation for most Arizona LLCs is the transaction privilege tax return, and that is with the Department of Revenue, not the Commission.
  • Arizona still has a newspaper publication requirement for new LLCs, but only for those whose known place of business is outside Maricopa and Pima counties. LLCs in those two counties are exempt because the Commission publishes the formation record on its own site instead.
  • Arizona's sales tax is a transaction privilege tax imposed on the seller rather than the buyer, licensed by the Department of Revenue rather than the Commission. A new LLC that will sell anything needs that TPT license, and the application asks for the federal EIN before it asks for anything else.
  • Arizona uses the term statutory agent where other states say registered agent, and the agent must sign an acceptance that is filed with the articles. The Commission's eCorp portal issues the file number that identifies the LLC in state records; it is a state index, not a tax ID.

Questions

How do I search for a business in Arizona?

Use the Arizona Business Center business search, which finds a company by business name, business ID, statutory agent or principal name. Search by the main words of the name, without LLC or Inc, so small differences do not hide the company.

Does the Arizona business search show a company's EIN?

Generally not. The EIN comes from the IRS, and Arizona's business records are kept for the state's own purposes. A Form W-9 from the company is the reliable way to get it.

How do I check if an Arizona LLC is active?

Search the company by name and open its record. The status shows whether Arizona counts it as active. Words like dissolved, revoked, forfeited, inactive or delinquent mean it is not in good standing, often because an annual filing or fee was missed.

How do I get proof that an Arizona company is in good standing?

Order a Certificate of Good Standing from the Arizona Corporation Commission. Banks, lenders and other states ask for it as proof the company exists and is current.

What is an Arizona ACC file number?

It is the number the Arizona Corporation Commission gives a company when it is formed, and it identifies the company in state records. It is not the company's EIN, which comes from the IRS.
